Bangkok Chinatown: Lunar New Year Festivities
I Celebrated Chinese New Year in World’s Biggest Chinatown (AND I WOULD NOT DO IT AGAIN)

On the 29th of January, millions of people gather around the world to celebrate Lunar New Year and the beginning of the Year of the Snake. I decided to attend the festivities in the world's biggest Chinatown in Bangkok. About 10 million people in Thailand are of Chinese descent, which makes up around 14% of the country's total population. But it's not only Thai Chinese who are celebrating the beginning of the year of the snake in Bangkok. Typically, mainland Chinese get the week around New Year, also called the Spring Festival, off. During this time, hundreds of millions of Chinese travel to their hometowns to celebrate with their families. This results in the largest human migration in the world, with many people traveling to other countries, such as Thailand, to celebrate the Spring Festival there.
