Street Food Tour in Chaoshan, China - Part 2 🇨🇳

This is Part 2 of Maverick Lee's epic street food adventure in Chaoshan, China, a journey that promises to be as exciting as the first part. The video opens with Maverick expressing his surprise at the unique cultural immersion, feeling like an alien in a fascinating new world. The culinary journey begins with a casserole rice dish, featuring Chow Shan beef and sausage, described by Maverick as the best sausage he's ever tasted. The beef, surprisingly distinct from any he's tried before, is tender, flavorful, and a true highlight.

Next, he samples fish balls, prawn balls, and fish cakes, finding the fish cakes particularly impressive with their crispy exterior and soft, juicy interior. The experience takes an interesting turn as Maverick describes the unique stares he receives from locals, a stark contrast to his travels elsewhere.

The adventure continues with a unique pancake-like dish, a hybrid cake with onion and sugar, which Maverick finds surprisingly delicious and unlike anything he's had in the West. He then tries a Duan, a dish with onion filling that he doesn't quite enjoy, followed by a Taro cake, which, while crispy on the outside, doesn't impress him due to the Taro's lack of flavor.

Chow Fen, a local noodle dish with sausage, carrot, onion, cabbage, and pork, is next, receiving a 4.2 rating from Maverick, who notes its difference from Western interpretations of Chinese food. The video then features Chow Shan pork dumplings, which Maverick considers among the best he's ever had, soft and melting in the mouth.

The tour concludes with two sweet treats: a unique sweet-chewy pastry, and a refreshing fruit ice dessert called Binua, featuring sweet potato, watermelon, and mango. Maverick praises the Binua's refreshing qualities and its potential popularity in the West, especially during summer. Throughout the video, Maverick's enthusiasm and descriptive language bring the food and the experience to life, making it a delightful watch for any viewer.

FAQs (From the traveler's perspective)

Q: What was the best sausage you ever had?
A: The Chow Shan sausage! It was the best sausage I've ever had in my life.
Q: How would you describe the Chow Shan beef?
A: The Chow Shan beef was so thin, so tender, and it smelled amazing. It's totally different in every way, the smell, the tenderness, the taste. Honestly, how can a cow taste different to other cows? How can beef taste different to other beef? I will never know and it's not even close to difference, it's like huge. I can't believe how different this beef is to any other beef I've ever had anywhere in the world. Oh my God, it is way, way better than I ever, ever thought it would be.
Q: What did you think of the Binua?
A: The Binua was so good! Man, so so good. They should have this in the west, especially in the summer. This in the summer, oh my goodness, this is ideal. You have like fruit salad bowls, this is like a fruit salad bowl but with ice, and then the ice melts, it's just so nice. It's like a drink, it's like a salad, all in one, take an ice cream, a drink, and a fruit salad all combined together in one bowl. It's so refreshing. I've never seen this in the west before, the ingredients taste so fresh, really delicious.
