Take a Bus Ride on China’s Most Insane 30-Story Overpass in Chongqing

I explore the Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge in Chongqing, a true engineering marvel and one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Standing 114 meters above the river, this bridge has the highest deck height among all bridges on the Yangtze River. On its northern side, you’ll find the Chongqing Railway Station overpass — an impressive structure that rises 97 meters into the air, roughly equivalent to a 30-story building. As it ascends from the riverbank, the overpass splits into three distinct levels: the top level connects directly to the upper part of the city, linking to Zhongshan Third Road; the second level spirals downward, connecting to the ground-level Caiyuanba Overpass, Xiangyang Tunnel, and Caiyuan Expressway. In today’s video, I explore this incredible piece of infrastructure by both bus and foot. Riding the bus through the multi-level interchange feels just like a roller coaster ride — with steep drops and dizzying heights that will definitely get your heart racing. Beneath the bridge lies a surprisingly complex metro station, and I also make my way up to the highest viewpoint in the area — the Tongyuanju Viewing Platform — for some breathtaking views of Chongqing’s urban landscape. Whether you're interested in architecture, urban design, or just looking for unique travel experiences in China, this video takes you through one of Chongqing’s most fascinating spots.
