This is part 2 of my land border crossing from Kyrgyzstan into China. After finalizing the formalities in Kyrgyzstan, I am now entering China, where immigration and customs procedures begin. It's mandatory to cross China with a guide, so for this journey through china, I won't be traveling solo, but with Mr. Bing. Without him it's not even possible to buy petrol, as you need to scan your Chinese ID card for that!

Once in China, she encounters the immigration checkpoint, practicing a few basic Chinese phrases while acknowledging her limited language skills. The process is thorough but friendly, with the officials speaking little English. She anticipates the next steps: a long drive to Topa for a separate customs session and the need for a Chinese driver’s license that will require Mr. Bing’s help.
