How were people in China towards me?
Surprisingly, people were incredibly welcoming and kind. It was a far better experience than I had expected or experienced in America or the UK.
What was the food like?
The food was delicious! I especially enjoyed the spicy dishes and the various regional cuisines I tried. Though chopsticks were a bit of a challenge!
What's the best way to get around in China?
Trains are the best way to move around, especially if you're in a big city like Beijing. The infrastructure is excellent!
What's one thing that surprised you about China?
How glued everyone is to their phones! It's on a whole different level than what I'm used to.
What's your advice for other Black travelers to China?
Be open to new experiences, and don't be afraid to embrace the culture. You might be surprised by the kindness and hospitality you encounter!
