Dongshan is known for the loquat fruit. This fruit's season is only for a few weeks in May. We were lucky enough to take a day trip to the area, walked up a small mountain that overlooked Taihu Lake, picked loquats in a local farm, and had Chinese BBQ for lunch! This was a one day private tour with us, our friend, and a tour guide. It was a fun experience, and the first time either of us have ever eaten loquats!
