We went on a road trip through Shandong, China, searching for hidden gems and lesser-known places across the Jiaodong Peninsula. Our journey took us through Weihai, Laoshan, Changyi and Laizhou, where we explored the coast, tasted fresh Chinese seafood and tried local Shandong BBQ.<br><br>The biggest surprise was Heiyangshan Quarry Lake, also known as Black Sheep Mountain, a surreal blue quarry lake hidden in the Shandong countryside. Almost nobody outside the local area seems to know about it, but it became one of the most unforgettable places on our China road trip.<br><br>⚠️ The quarry lake and the roads leading to it may be hazardous.
